Industry: Industrial additive manufacturing

Partners: Cosmyx (manufacturer of automated FDM machines) & Alveo3D (air filtration solutions)

French manufacturers unite for more responsible 3D printing

I. Background

Cosmyx, a French manufacturer of industrial 3D printers and micro-factories, designs high-performance solutions for continuous production.

Cosmyx works with prestigious clients such as TotalEnergies, Thales, the French Navy, Hermès, Sorbonne University, and the French Ministry of the Armed Forces. Aware of the health challenges in the workplace, Cosmyx wanted to integrate a reliable and effective filtration solution into its equipment.

II. The need

With the rise of 3D printing in industrial and sensitive environments (defense, research, education, etc.), controlling emissions (ultrafine particles, odors, volatile organic compounds) is becoming an essential criterion. Corentin FROMONT, R&D Manager at Cosmyx, contacted Alveo3D directly to co-develop a filtration solution tailored to the specific requirements of their machines.

Objectives for Cosmyx:

  • Reduce ultrafine particle emissions and odors associated with printing materials such as ABS, ASA, PETG, or composites.
  • Protect operators in industrial, educational, or sensitive environments.
  • Meet growing customer expectations in terms of health and compliance (occupational health, internal standards, olfactory comfort).
  • Integrate a French solution that is reliable and modular depending on the Cosmyx model (NOVA, SUPER NOVA, etc.).

III. The solution: HEPA13 filters

After several technical discussions, Cosmyx selected HEPA13 filters developed by Alveo3D, designed to capture more than 99.95% of particles ≤0.3 µm.

The solution was adapted to integrate effectively with Cosmyx machines, without affecting production performance or footprint.

IV. Results obtained

Reduction of odors and fine emissions

Improved comfort for operators and users in production

Greater peace of mind in regulated environments (schools, laboratories, integrated workshops)

A partnership that makes sense

By choosing to collaborate with Alveo3D, Cosmyx is demonstrating a strong commitment to promoting healthier, more responsible industrial 3D printing, driven by local players.

“As an industrial manufacturer, we design printers that can print the most technical filaments on the market. We needed a filtering solution that was tailored to our needs, easy to integrate, high-performance, and made in France. Alveo3D provides us with a safe solution that is perfectly suited to our use.”
